If it wasn't bad enough that I got horribly sunburned on my first weekend in Boston, I had missed out on any excitement on my second weekend, having been bitten by a local spider, whilst eating my lunch the previous Wednesday. I never noticed anything at the time but, later that afternoon, I was feeling pain and throbbing in my leg. It was hard and swollen (my leg) and I thought I had DVT. By the Friday morning, I got out of bed and screamed in agony as I couldn't stand up. I spent that Friday morning at the Mass Gen ER on an antibiotic drip; my leg had, apparently, got infected around the site of the bite, causing it to swell up (my leg) like a bastard. I went back to my hotel and rested my very swollen, very sore leg!
Over the next week, the swelling went down (in my leg) and I limped around like a gimp. The big downside was that I couldn't drink the fantastic Long Island Iced Teas that they made at the Westin, on account of the course of antibiotics I was on! Click here for the next bit
