Christmas 2009: Christkindlmarkt

You know, for the kids… The Münchener Christkindlmarkt is a whole load of little stalls and attractions spread all over the city centre. You can buy your Glühwein, roast nuts, Leberkäse, Würstchen, and all manner of assorted Christmas crap, and, er, it would appear, socks. Yeah, I know, I couldn’t understand why socks are such a special Christmas item, but there you go, there are stalls all over the place selling socks! The really weird thing is that, last time I lived here in the ‘80s, I found socks made from poodle hair. That is wrong on so many different levels…
Still, it’s all very pretty, festive, and extremely tiring to wander around it all. The pictures should give you a pretty good idea of what I’m talking about.
