Demon - Hotel California Tranmere 29th May 2005

Setlist: Night Of The Demon / Into The Nightmare / The Plague / Blackheath / Wonderland / Standing On The Edge Of The World / Live Again / Remembrance Day / Sign Of A Madman / Life On The Wire / One Helluva Night
This was a mighty strange event, it has to be said.
The gig itself was good and the band played well, but the attendance was surprisingly low. For Demon, it could be considered an extra rehearsal in advance of their European appearances; a chance to run through the material one more time and not have to pay for the practice room.

Compared to the Leek gig just a week earlier, it could not have been more diametrically opposed, in terms of atmosphere. In their home town, they were lauded and applauded. Little more than fifty miles away, they were perfunctorily acknowledged and, largely, no more than a distraction to the main task of the night: the consumption of vast quantities of strong German lager.
Not one for the record books, to be sure, and not a venue I’d be eager to revisit.
