Demon - Better The Devil You Know - 2006
My original concept for this artwork was based around an old promotional poster for the old '50s horror B-movie, Night of the Demon. I wanted to do it in the style of a '50s poster art, but I couldn't find out who owned the copyright in the image I wanted to use, so I couldn't clear it.
The artwork we eventually used for the front was based around the eye imagery, which was an image supplied by Mikael 'Mix' Erikson, the webmaster for Demon's website. On the back we used a photograph that had been sent to us by a Demon fan, Par Magnus Strom, taken at one of the Swedish gigs a year or two earlier. Both images were very striking and worked well.
For the booklet, I used photographs I had taken for backgrounds, overlaying the song lyrics, and created some montages using some of my own memorabilia, which I thought would appeal to the fans.
I used the basic design of the eye for T-Shirts, posters and print ads.
