Food for Thought

I had driven over to Pittsburgh on the Friday after work, to see Wishbone Ash, and hadn't got back to the hotel until around 6AM on Saturday morning. It seemed reasonable at the time. After a few hours sleep, I woke up and felt like Death. I decided to have a lazy day and went through some photos and scribbled a bit. I sashayed on over to Baxters, ate, sank a few Guinness, and crashed out quite early.
On Sundays, roadside parking in Philadelphia is free; now, that's my kind of price. I took the opportunity to go into the city, have a walk around and look at the shops in and around Walnut. It just so happens that there is also a goodly number of Dunkin' Donuts in that area too and I needed an extra large Dunkaccino. DUNKACCINO™ (apparently) 'combines coffee and chocolate creating a sweet, creamy mocha drink'. I'm hooked on it, I have to admit and it irks me that it can't be obtained in the UK, which currently has no Dunkin Donuts outlets. Shocking!
And, of course, there are other local delicacies...

Of course, all over Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and indeed the upper right coast, you will see signs proclaiming that, within that establishment, you will find 'the best cheese steak'. Hell, you can even get them in a Subway, but until you've had one in South Philly, you haven't had one, if you know what I mean. There's something about sitting there on South 9th, soaking in the atmos that adds a new dimension to it.
Some will say that the best steak in town is at Rick's (incidentally, Pat's son) and it is good, no doubt about that, but I have to say the best I have had (that wasn't at Pat's or Geno's) was from Marco Polo's, a little further up 9th. It's all subjective. Realistically, you're going to have to try really hard, or be bloody unlucky, to find a cheese steak that is bad. I can't say I've ever come across one that wasn't edible
