Manchester - 25th January 2011
I had been to see the Tutanchamun exhibit in Munich, in 2009, and it was damn impressive. Click here to go to that page. When I was asked if I'd like to go and see it again, this time at The Museum of Museums, at Manchester's horrific 21st Century Carbunkle, The Trafford Centre, it never even crossed my mind that I didn't want to go. Not only did I want to see all the marvellous bling that Howard Carter uncovered almost a century ago, lunch was thrown in for free :-) No, seriously, I couldn't wait. Little did I know that, in Manchester, you could take photos, provided that you didn't go around flashing, an opportunity that I hadn't been afforded in Munich. For a shutterbug like me, this was an unexpected bonus!
Now, quickly a word about the photos of Tutanchamun's stash. These pictures do not even begin to do it justice. If you like the photos, do yourself a favour: Go and see the exhibition for yourself! It will be the best £14 you'll have ever spent. Besides, as good as my little Lumix may be, other people, the reflections from the glass cases, the lights, and the gold itself, really make getting clean shot quite tricky. Still, I think you'll get the idea...
As for the Trafford Centre, someone, hand me a sickbag...
Choose either The Trafford Centre or Tutanchamun from the cascade menu.
