Monsters of Rock 2006: Roadstar - Milton Keynes Bowl 3rd June 2006

Now, the fact was that Diamond Head, a band I know pretty well, had played a gig in MK the night before MOR. Both me and Firstborn were convinced that they would be the ‘To be named’ opening act. It seemed like a foregone conclusion in our minds. So, we were more than a little surprised to find a band called Roadstar take to the stage at around 12:45! Apparently, they had got the job by recently playing some dates with Thunder.
To be fair, they weren’t bad, but reminded me of Touch at that first festival twenty-six years earlier. It’s the one band that I can remember absolutely nothing about.* + I know I sat on the hill and watched them, thinking they weren’t bad, but they lit no fires and, not surprisingly, I’ve never heard of them since. Roadstar have that same feeling about them. Good, but generally unremarkable. They didn’t offend me, neither did they give me anything much to think about. Say what you will about Diamond Head, love them or hate them, but they will always play Am I Evil and everyone will remember that song, if they remember nothing else about them. So, Roadstar came and went and we awaited ‘Uncle Ted’.
