Sweden Rock Festival 2009: The Tubes - 4th June 2009

What can I say about The Tubes? Truly wonderful and, on reflection, the most enjoyable band of the weekend for me, just by a shade over all the others that I bothered to take pics of (or managed to see). But, then again, I couldn't make it to see Foreigner or UFO (as I was busy on Demon-related matters when they were on stage). Still I managed to pack a load of stuff in, just the same. Yeah, The Tubes were awesome. Musically, they were as good as anyone else, with Fee Waybill looking and sounding fantastic and doing what he does in the way that only he can. Roger Steen, Rick Anderson, David Medd, and the inimitable Prairie Princeon drums, make a sweet sound and are one of the tightest bands I have ever seen. You either love their humour, or you don't. If you don't well, nothing I can say will change your mind.
A great set of classic tunes, as you would expect, including She’s a Beauty, I Don’t Want To Wait Anymore, Tip of my Tongue, Amnesia, TV is King and Prime Time from Remote Control, Boy Crazy, What Do You Want From Life, Mondo Bondage, and who would not be overjoyed to see White Punks on Dope played live? For me, it was the stuff that they did from Remote Control that pleased me greatly, as I hadn’t really expected that. This was the first band of the weekend for us and, having backstage access enabled us to get on the stage whilst The Tubes were on and, I have to say, that was damn cool! A great start to what would turn out to be a fantastic weekend.
