Saturday 2nd August 2003 - Corona CA (Los Angeles)
Those crazy kids...
With the exception of Phoenix, the Corona show was the maddest of all. But, it was certainly one of the top three shows of the tour and probably the best show for The Skeptix, of the entire tour. Due to traffic heading out of the Beach, we were a bit late and just caught the last half of The Brats set. From what I saw, they seemed to be on fire.
Corona was a show that held mixed emotions for me. I had hoped to meet up with another friend I had made over the Internet, my 'siamese twin brother', KC. But, unfortunately, it was not to be. We spoke briefly on the phone, but things being what they are, and working out the way that they do, I couldn't get back in touch with him and his car had died. So, I left his name at the box office, in the hope he'd make it, but he didn't. So, if you're reading this KC, we tried, but it didn't happen. Next time, Bro'!
The real star of the Corona show was the audience. So, if you were in that crowd, take a bow, because you were awesome! This was definitely the No.1 audience, from what I saw. Crowd-surfing, stage-diving, it all went down and everyone had a great time. I think, if my hazy, alcohol-raddled memory is not mistaken, this was the first show where Chig came out from behind the drum kit and crowd-surfed. Then again, maybe he did it in South Gate too, I really can't remember. Nevertheless, the crowd was fantastic and made the show a great one.
Well, with the end of the show came the parting of the ways. Fredie was off back home to Costa Mesa and we were off to San Diego. One more gig in California and then it was off on the road. LA had been good to us and I'd had a great time in SoCal. But the time had come. We loaded out, packed up and headed off to Davey's house in Escondido. On the way, we had to stop off at Gnat's T-Shirt printing works to pick up more T-Shirts; those crazy Californians had bought everything!
